mixed media
Reflection
Questions:
I think the
strongest area in my project is the illustrator portion of the picture. The
gradient tool was tricky to use at first but it ended up being the best part of
the picture. Another strong area of my work is the pen tool. The pen tool allowed
the images to have a clean outline and then allowed me to fill the image with
the gradient color. An area of my work that could be improved on is the drawing
part. Because of the picture I chose, some parts of the picture were difficult
to draw. Next time I plan to choose a simpler picture with easier parts to
draw.
The easy
part of this activity was drawing and coloring the image. This part was easy
because all I had to do was trace the images I selected and then color them in.
The difficult part of the activity was outlining some of the images with the
pen tool. This was because sometimes in would fill in things I didn’t want to
be filled in, and then the line would get messed up and then I would have to
start over. There was a lot of trial and error, but I got the hang of it in the
end.
The
materials that I used for this project were the free transform tool, the crop
tool, the pen tool, the gradient tool, the magic wand, and the paint brush
tool. I also used colored pencils to color the drawing portion. I used the free
transform tool to arrange the images around in the right place. I used the crop
tool to make pictures smaller so that they could fit together, then the pen
tool to outline the images to add gradient color, the magic wand to select the
images, and then the paint brush tool color in the pictures I outlined.
I
demonstrated the objective of the activity by making a mixed media image by
implementing three images that are colored and hand drawn, and three other
pictures that I created digitally using the pen tool in illustrator. And then I
put them together to match up. If I did this activity again I would choose a
simpler picture to use.

cartoon portrait
Reflection Questions: J
I think the strongest area of my
work was using illustration. I had an easy time manipulating the lines and
outlining my character. It was my strongest are because once I got the hang of
it, and learned how to use the tools, it became very simple and fun to use. The
area of work that can be improved on is coloring the character and using the
burning tool to create shadows. I can improve on this by using it more in my
work and also playing around with it to see what it can do.
The easy part of this activity was
drawing my character and then scanning it into the computer. Drawing my
character was easy because I already had a good idea of what I wanted to draw. I
wanted to portray who I am and what I look like in my character and I did that
by just picturing myself as a person and what I stand for. The difficult part
of this activity was making sure the eyes of my character looked even. The eyes
themselves took me about a whole class period. For materials in illustrator, I used
the pen tool, the add anchor point tool, the quick select tool, and stroke. I used
the pen tool and stroke to draw the outline of my character. I used the anchor
point tool to make shapes and the quick select tool to manipulate certain
parts.
I demonstrated the objective of
this activity by drawing a character that represents me and then scanning it
into the computer. I then outlined it in illustrator, and in photo shop I then
colored my person in and made it look more realistic. If I could do this art
activity again, I would re-do the outline of my character because in the middle
of doing it I got better at it and learned new things I could with it. And I would
also fix the eyes and make them look more realistic.

polaroid project
Reflection Questions:
I think the
strongest area of my work in this project was manipulating my images I had
created. I exercised a lot of the tools that photo shop provides, such as, free
transform, merging, image adjustments, the paint tool, quick select, and the
horizontal type tool. The area of work I believe that I can improve on is being
more creative with what I do. I should try and think outside the box more and
experiment.
The easy part
of this activity was fitting the polaroids into the picture. It was easy to
manipulate them, and cut out any excess picture that would ruin the illusion.
That part only took me about twenty minutes to complete. Another easy part was
editing pictures that I had scanned into the computer. A part that I struggled
with was the horizontal text. It gave me some trouble at first because I hadn’t
used it in a while. I had trouble moving it around and choosing the font and
its size, but after a bit I got the hang of it. For tools, I used quick select,
the lasso tool, the paint too, the horizontal text, free transform, merging,
image adjustment, liquefy, and the eye dropper tool.
I
demonstrated the objective of the activity by including mixed media elements,
having a fore ground, mid ground and back ground, using 12 Polaroids, and
implementing a few pictures I had drawn myself and scanned into the computer.
If I did this activity again, I would use a different picture, only because the
one I used was very light and I had to do a lot of image adjustments to it to
make it look right. I would also
incorporate more pictures that I drew myself.

letter project
My letter was "C". Everything in the picture is completely made out of Cs. (except for the tree trunk or the persons body)
Reflection Questions:
The easy part of
the project was that I was review. I got play around with a lot of things and
become more familiar with photo shop again. The difficult part was when I first
started working on my project. It was tough because I hadn’t used photo shop in
almost two years, so I had forgotten a lot of things. Once I familiarized myself
with things, I was okay, but at first I didn’t know what to do with myself. For
the tool, I stuck to the basic ones. I kept in very simple and clean; nothing
crazy. I did this because it was my first project of the year, I wanted to
focus on getting to know the tools again instead of making things complicated
and confusing myself. I used quick select, free transform, the paint tool, and
layer copy. Layer copy was a big one because I used c over and over again for different
objects. So I ended up using most of the same c fonts for than once. I used
quick select to make new layers and color within the lines. Free transform was
also used a lot because I need to manipulate the Cs so that they could take the
shape of the object that I wanted. I used the paint tool to basically color
everything, and to make things pop.
I demonstrated
the objective of this project by choosing a letter of my choice and turning it
into something really cool. I took one letter and made a whole picture. I
familiarized myself with the tools again and played with them too. I explored a
lot of new tools as well. If I could do this art activity again I would use
more complicated tools. That way instead of simple, it would look more complicated.
I am happy with my work, and I wouldn’t change anything. I look forward to
doing more projects and learning more about photo shop this year.
